I love to give gifts from the heart, and often that means homemade. However, time seems to elude me lately and so I look for local alternatives. I am smitten with FoodiePages.ca
Photos below represent a wonderful box of products that were hand selected for me, and the fact that products are Canadian, and in some cases local, is really a nice extra touch!

- Spicy Tomato Jam (250ml) from Manning Canning (Toronto ON) – this product is SO delicious. We served it as a flavourful side for a pork tenderloin roast and it was amazing!
- Salted Caramel Popcorn (135g) from Batch Sweet Kitchen (Vancouver BC)
- Camelina Oil (100ml) from Three Farmers (Saskatoon SK)
- Chocolate Brigadeiros (box of 9 truffles) from The Sweet Brigade (Toronto ON) – the cutest truffles I have ever seen and the multi-coloured chocolate ball was my favourite!
- Number Three Crisps (200g) from Feys+Hobbs (Victoria BC)
- Salted Caramels (40g) from Provisions Food Company (St. Catharines ON) – anyone that knows me, knows that my weakness is salted caramel – and these vintage candies were melt in your mouth divine.
- Hot Chocolate Newget (100g) from The Newget Kompany (Edmonton AB) – this was a big hit as a passaround after family dinner on Sunday – my 3-years old grandson is a fan!
- Strawberry, Mint & White Spruce Vinaigrette (200ml) from Epicea (Dolbeau-Mistassini QC) – OMG so good and perfect as a light salad dressing but was also a really nice dip with fresh baguette.
You don’t have to order a pre-approved foodie box. If you are comfortable picking a la carte, make sure to check out their FOOD SHOP. They also have a KITCHEN SHOP for cookware and a WINE SHOP where I found several of my fave BC vineyards including Tin Horn Creek and Tantalus.
Incidentally, you can shop by region. I found 39 food and drink companies from British Columbia s0 you can truly buy local. If you Aunt Sally lives in Toronto, you can send her a holiday box that is local to her region too! What a great concept and about on par with pricing at Hickory Farm – but much more original and in most cases – better quality ingredients.
