It’s almost that time of year again! Vancouver Fashion Week is a bi-annual event held in Vancouver, B.C. that is attended by over 20,000 fashion lovers. International and local designers from around the globe, established and emerging talents, will be showcased, bringing buzz and attention to media, buyers, industry professionals and VIP’s.
NICHE magazine is once again be a major media partner for Vancouver Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 – happening March 18th-24th at the Chinese Cultural Centre.
This upcoming F/W 2014 season will feature many new and unique designers. Zuhal Kuvan-Mills, designer of Green Embassy will be showcasing her fall collection in Vancouver. Green Embassy is Australia’s first internationally recognized organic fashion label. Focusing on modern, minimalist, functional and alluring garments for earth-friendly consumers, Zuhal finds inspiration within the textile crafting traditions of ancient times. Designer, Susana Bettencourt from Portugal focuses on knitwear collections. After receiving a BA in Fashion Knitwear at Central Saint Martins, Bettencourt worked towards her MA in Digital Fashion at London College of Fashion. Intricate knitwear and bold embellishments have landed Bettencourt some high profile fans such as Lady Gaga.
Established designer, Maria Stranekova is part of an avant-garde designers group working on the international fashion scence since 2005. Recently she has obtained a PhD at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava and is now a freelance designer and head of the Fashion Design studio at Tomas Bata University. Stranekova has gained much experience through working at the Alexander McQueen and Preen ateliers. David Alfonso will be showing his F/W 2014 collection for his Menswear label, ERIKÓ. Korean Designer, Soojin Lee has gained industry skills through working at her own label, ‘SOOJIN LEE International’ as well as at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Emilio De La Morena. There will also be returning Designers showing at Vancouver Fashion Week including Noe Bernacelli and Evan Clayton.
