Achieve the story of the season- get playful with prints

Print-madness is one way to describe the adornment for innovative prints coming off the runway this fall season.  From geometric prints to plaids, florals, paisleys, and artistic photographs printed onto garments, this season is all about mixing up the monochromatic trend with a touch of graphic drama.

Whether they are embroidered, printed, embossed or painted, many renowned designers are taking a unique approach to the idea of bringing personality through prints. Burberry Prorsum showcased an edgy yet certainly romantic collection for this season. The use of heart prints onto classic day and office wear brings a whimsical aspect to the modern woman’s daily attire.  Marc Jacobs incorporated the use of plaids and geometric prints into his fall colour palette. By combining a tailored pant with a printed blouse it adds an essence of fresh sophistication to the ideal pairing.

An unusual mixing of sleepwear inspired garments in poetic floral prints with heavy structured coats creates a harmonious juxtaposition in Louis Vuitton’s fall collection. Artistic prints of Bambi were seen on sweatshirt style tops in lace and solid black at Givenchy. With the collection blending plaids, florals and paisleys it was a perfect representation of how to play with prints this season.

Merging laces, leathers, knits and furs with prints that strike the eye are fascinating fashion lovers and inspiring trend setters to mix it up with a slice of marvel. Saint Laurent brings back a grunge with a collection consisting of plaids and floral prints paired with lace and leather pieces.

In previous seasons it has been all about colour blocking or showcasing a “pop of colour” within your outfit. Unlike any other season, runways this fall are showing fashionistas that a great way of bringing that chic yet playful essence can be achieved through pairing your outfit with a print. Step out of your comfort zone by adding prints into your look to achieve a story for the season.
