The Food + Fashion + Label Exhibit – The Bay Centre

SHARE

If you’ve shopped at the Bay Centre during the Holiday season, you will notice a fashionable display of grandeur on its buzzing 2nd level. Green haute couture you might call it but if you look closely, there is something very special about each dress – they were perfected and curated for a very important cause and it is definitely more than a fashion statement!

The project began in 2009 when The Bay Centre partnered with Pacific Design Academy by allowing their budding designers and our future fashion connoisseurs create unique dresses out of recycled food labels, provided by the Mustard Seed. The exhibit brings freshmen and sophomore students together to conceptualize, sketch and make these dresses. All is done to bring awareness to the Mustard Seed and the gift of giving.

This year, the Pacific Design Academy called upon the talented students of Victoria High, Reynolds Secondary and Belmont Secondary to create the dresses which took over 100 hours to make. In line with the 16th Annual Spirit of Giving, The Food + Fashion + Label Exhibit includes a selection of dresses from displays over the past years. So stop by, take pictures and please donate. Give the gift of fashionable giving.
