Marking the world’s first viral event, Dîner en Blanc is an idea borne on the gai streets of Paris – a très chic picnic that invites culinary and culture enthusiasts, dressed in elegant whites, to converge upon secret outdoor locales in 35 cities across 5 continents.

Launched with a handful of friends by François Pasquier nearly 25 years ago in Paris, Dîner en Blanc is an invitation only event. Hopeful guests place their names on an online waiting list. Those who get an invite receive the picnic location one hour before the event begins. Dressed all in white, guests flock to the chosen destination, it is a divine and magical sight to behold, watching a city of white sit down and dine together in unity.
Un Histoire Très Chic
Paris’ Dîner en Blanc now attracts nearly 15,000 white-clad guests each year in a dozen cities throughout Europe and North America. Dîner en Blanc is about building a pyramid of friends and a network that links memories. The French capital’s most recognizable sites have played host to it: the Pont des Arts, the Eiffel Tower site, the Louvre Pyramid, the Champs-Élysées, and last year: The Plaza of Notre Dame basilica.
Those who attend a Dîner en Blanc become members; invited back the following year, and in turn, can invite their friends. Guests are required to bring a table, white chairs, white linens, china dinner service and may opt to bring their own picnic baskets or pay for a gourmet spread by one of the selected city’s renowned chefs.
At the last minute, the location is given to thousands of friends and acquaintances who have been patiently waiting to learn the “Dîner en Blanc’s” secret place.
