Bowie Inspired Beauty at Menswear Fashion Week 2016

With the passing of legend and icon, David Bowie on January 10th, Menswear Fashion Week took a trip down memory lane. Bowie has always had major influence on the fashion industry and it was time to showcase a farewell to the legend through the beauty and fashion showcased on the runways.

Margiela showed beauty inspired by Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust with silver stars applied around models eyes paired with bright red gallery-1453977183-gettyimages-507136498wigs creating a look that looked like it came right off the stage of a Bowie performance. At Burberry, model, Hayett McCarthy walked the runway to reveal at the end that she had written ‘Bowie’ across her palms. Touches of glitter were applied under models eyes and  “Changes” and “Oh You Pretty Things” – were played before and GettyImages-504591648after the show to pay tribute. Donated Versace played “Space Oddity” to close her Menswear show which was inspired by the stars themselves resulting in a space-age style line. At Ermenegildo Zegna models strut the catwalk Italy Fashion Versaceto Bowie’s 1975 album “Young Americans”. Emporio Armani had models wearing silver foil like menswear that felt of space influence and before the show commenced a live version of Bowie singing was played.
